Wordle Rules

Below are the rules for playing Wordle games:

What Do Wordle Colors Mean

Each guess gives color feedback:

  1. Green: Correct letter in correct position
  2. Yellow: Correct letter in wrong position
  3. Gray: Letter not in word

Wordle Difficulty Scale

There are two standard types of results:

  1. Results from New York Times paid testers
  2. Results from WordleBot

Each day, The New York Times shares a score based on the average performance of its paid testers. The score ranges from 1 to 6, where 1 means easy and 6 means the hardest. Similarly, WordleBot calculates an average score based on the performance of players across the globe.

Wordle was created by Josh Wardle and released publicly in 2021. It was later acquired by The New York Times in 2022. The game became globally popular during the COVID-19 period.
